Nature and prestige
Quinta do Lago Golf Resort is one of the most exclusive golf domains in the whole Europe. Not only the two golf courses are synonym of prestigious retreat, they are as well of excellent quality! Quinta do Lago is part of the Natural Park of Ria Formosa, an eco-system that hosts a great variety of birds.
A well known European course
The Quinta do Lago South Golf Course is still the most famous. This golf course, designed by William Mitchell and inaugurated in 1974, became world known after hosting the Portuguese Open on 8 occasions - the latest dates were in 1988, 1989, 1990 and 2001. The Quinta do Lago South requires accuracy with trouble waiting for a miss-hit shot. The player has several ways to approach greens and long hitters will be favoured. However, each hole has one easy route and the player who sees this, and has the skill to follow the designer’s intention, and produce sub-par figures.
Going into details
Although both anti-clockwise loops, the first nine of Quinta do Lago South favour a draw, while the second favour a fade from the tee.
Holes 3, 15 and 17 feature lakes, which must be negotiated.
Holes 8, 10, 15 and 18 of Quinta do Lago South are the most testing for the scratch player while holes 2, 3, 5, 12, 13 and 17 offer the best possibilities of birdies.
Nr. 15: exceptional hole
The most famous hole of Quinta do Lago South Golf Course and as well most one of the most photographed of the Algarve is Nr. 15, a memorable Par 3 requiring a 200 m. shot right over a lake from the championship tee onto a green surrounded by pine trees.

How to get there?
National Road number 125, direction to Almancil. In Almancil, follow the signs to Quinta do Lago. Within Quinta do Lago, drive along the main road (Av. André Jordan), until roundabout nr.4; turn right and right again. Free parking, with vigilance service for private cars is available on the surrounding area of the Clubhouse.
